Fruits de Mer Volume 12

HAUSFRAUEN EXPERIMENT

Fruits de Mer Records severely tests the limits of its sixties/early seventies psych/prog/krautrock agenda and completely blows its budget with a double 7" release from Hausfrauen Experiment
Four future/retro/electro/leftfield/outtheresomewhere versions of a bizarre selection of tracks that only the musically-deranged or commercially-suicidal could put together in one release (so we did)

Hausfrauen Experiment

Featuring

'Oscillations', originally by Silver Apples

'Spirit of the Age', originally by Hawkwind

'Baby's On Fire', originally by Eno

'Sebastian', originally by Cockney Rebel

Tracy, Vyolette & Lisa (in their own words): Disco Diva Doilys... Rich Tea and an upright Hoover... polishing parquet floors and ancient teak and mahogany sideboards with beeswax ... Duran Duran or Steeley Dan - and we're talking Barbarella here... such are the dreams of the everyday housewife you see everywhere any time of the day... Jimmy Webb at the Ritz and Frankie in Heaven... an ever widening vista of ripples lapping gently against the shores of memory, forcing the question: Do we go quietly into the long dark teatime of the soul? Or, do we cast again the uncast die? For DARKLILY, LISA & TRACY the answer was an unequivocal ... NO! And thus, on a darksome November eve was born THE HAUSFRAUEN EXPERIMENT; their mission: To somewhat abstractly tinker with perfectly good songs for their own amusement. Enjoy.

a double-pack of 7" colour vinyl
(that's two records, in case we're not making much sense)

SORRY, WE'RE SOLD OUT

Members of The Hausfrauen Experiment have worked with The Beloved, Eyeless in Gaza, Nurse With Wound, Orchis, Temple Music and S.Q.E. to name but a few.... they got together to bemoan the state of alternative music and popular culture over some nice coffee with sprinkles and a glass of Kirsch on the side, and decided to amuse themselves by recreating their fave pop moments using vintage synth and fx rather than suffer people in the deli going on about the X-Factor. Their first effort, a cover of Das Modell, received plaudits from Hans-Joachim Roedelius of Cluster; encouraged, they proceeded to plunder the back catalogue of Eno, The Silver Apples, Skeeter Davies, Japan, Duran Duran, Mott The Hoople, T Rex, Can... anything they liked and thought was cool…then those nice people at Fruits de Mer approached the band about doing a single... this then expanded into a double 7"... so, who knows what the future holds?

We do. Death. Might as well have fun first...
