Very sad news that The Pretty Things’ Phil May has died.

A great singer, a great songwriter and a peerless frontman, Phil was still in fine voice after more than 50 years of leading the UK’s finest psych/R&B band.

I understand there’s one more studio album from the band in the can, although seeing them in brilliant form at the O2 in London at the end of 2018 was a great way for me to remember Phil, together with Dick Taylor and co.

The Pretty Things happen to be my all-time favourite band, so getting Phil and Dick's support and involvement in our 'Sorrow's Children' LP and then being able to release some of their music on Fruits de Mer was unbelievable (all thanks to their manager Mark St. John) as was having them headline FdM's first one-dayer - at the Borderline in 2012 - and I’m putting this page of Pretty Things youtube videos up on the FdM site because…well, because I want to.
